Location and Getting There

The apartment is on the sunny southfacing 5th floor of the Relais de la Guisane - apartment number 501.

The front door giving access to the lift is number 7 Avenue Rene Froger (next to Riquet Sport).

If you follow signs to the Prorel lift you will find the apartment block. We have a barrier card for access to the secure parking area next to the flats (at no extra cost).

The location is the X on the below map

If you are driving it is 600 miles from Calais (Autoroute for 540 miles). Follow signs for Lyon then Grenoble then Briancon. If is snowing consider carrying on the motorway past Grenoble to the Frejus tunnel into Italy then turn off the motorway at Oulx. Briancon is only 30 kms from here via a major trunk route and recently built tunnels keep the snow off the road as you climb to Montgenevre.

If you intend to fly budget carriers Ryanair, Easyjet, Monarch and Jet2 all fly to possible airports.

Turin - 1.25 hours transfer, Cuneo 1.5 hours, Milan - 3 hours, Nice - 4 hours, Marseille - 2 hours, Grenoble - 2 hours. Whilst Turin is the nearest (Ryanair or Easyjet) Nice, Marseille and Nimes are good options in the winter as flights are cheap (not many think of going skiing via Provence !).

Briancon also has a main rail station - an overnight TGV sleeper from Paris at 2130 arrives at 0830 or you can take a daytime TGV via Vallence or Oulx. The apartment is next to the lift and all the ammenities you need are within walking distance, so you don't need a car.

You can book via SNCF from London through to Briancon on one ticket. The website is now very easy to use and available in English. Tickets are released 90 days in advance and if you book early this is one of the cheapest and easiest travel methods. The apartment is about 10 minutes walk from the rail station but there are always taxis outside the station.

If flying to Italy you can get a train from Turin to Oulx then a bus to Briancon. There is bus from Grenoble but from the other airports it is probably best to hire a car.
