The Apartment
The apartment is next to the ultra fast Prorel lift that will take you into the fantastic 250k of linked piste that makes up the Serre Chevalier ski resort. The flat overlooks the Guisane river just before it joins the larger Durance.
We bought the apartment at Easter 2008 and have substantially refurnished it (new fridge, sofa beds, double bed, duvets, bedding, pillows, dining table, chairs, crockery, pans, cooking & eating utensils).
It was built in 1993 and is a fairly typical French ski apartment - tiled floors with practical and maximum use made of the available space. The apartment is in a great location for convenience of access to the ski runs and other activities plus the facilities a town has to offer.
The flat is 40sq meters, is furnished for 8 and has one bathroom (with a bath for tired legs & a shower for quicker results) plus a separate toilet. The apartment has a room with a double bed, a room with 2 bunk beds and 2 double sofa beds in the living room (a folding screen pulls across to divide it and create 2 further 'bedrooms'). The beds all have new matresses with wooden sprung bases so you should get a decent nights sleep. There is plenty of hanging and drying space for wet clothes in the entrance hall plus a large cupboard to store your gear.
The kitchen/living/dining area has a folding table (seats 8) and the cupboards are well equipped with plenty of pans and crockery. There is a 4 ring hob plus a microwave that also grills and is an oven. For entertainent we have a 19" flat screen TV with a built in DVD and a separate video recorder (about 30 VHS tapes - childrens classics and family type films. You may wish to bring your own DVDs if you want more choice). There is also a selection of cards and board games.
The living room has a balcony with great south facing views of the Alps & Guisane river (with a folding table & chairs) and the windows of the hall and bedrooms have views to the North and West.
There is a ski locker in the basement that will store your ski equipment. The apartment is on the 5th floor - there is a lift for access.
The flat is not expensive, so if you want more space I suggest it is also suitable for a group of 4 using the 2 bedrooms to sleep in and the living room to sit, cook and eat in.
Michel (who has lived all his life in Briancon and speaks very good English) and his wife Denise (who is English) look after the flat and will meet you to hand over keys and answer your questions. They are very helpful and will give good advice about local amenities and deal with any problems you encounter with the apartment. If you want towels Denise can provide at 7 Euros per set. A deposit of 100 Euros is taken against damage and return of the keys.
